The Republic of the Philippines Department of Energy (DOE)

DOE is mandated by RA 7638 (Department of Energy Act of 1992) to prepare, integrate, coordinate, supervise and control all plans, programs, projects and activities of the Government relative to energy exploration, development, utilization, distribution and conservation.

Mission: We at the Department of Energy, in partnership with our stakeholders, shall improve the quality of life of the Filipino by formulating and implementing policies and programs to ensure sustainable, stable, secure, sufficient, accessible and reasonably-priced energy. In pursuit of this mission, we commit to render efficient service with utmost integrity and professionalism.

ARE is an international business association with the aim to promote a sustainable decentralised renewable energy industry for the 21st century, activating markets for affordable energy services, and creating local jobs and inclusive economies. ARE enables improved energy access through business development support for its Membership along the whole value chain for off-grid technologies.

The Access to Sustainable Energy Programme (ASEP) 

ASEP is a joint undertaking of the European Union and the Philippine Department of Energy (DOE). Through ASEP, the EU has allocated a grant of over PHP 3 billion to assist the Government of the Philippines to meet its rural electrification targets by means of renewable energy, and to promote energy efficiency.

National Electrification Administration (NEA)

NEA has a mandated mission to:

  • To promote the sustainable development in the rural areas through rural electrification
  • To empower and enable Electric Cooperatives to cope with the changes brought about by the restructuring of the electric power industry

To empower and strengthen the NEA to pursue the electrification program and bring electricity, through the Electric Cooperatives as its implementing arm, to the countryside even in missionary or economically unviable areas
